For me photography started out as a hobby. We took a vacation to Monument Valley
back when all I had for a camera was a $40.00 point and shoot type. When we got
the pictures back we were disappointed. I then purchased a good SLR camera, checked
out some books from the library, and started to learn how to take better pictures.
I practiced around home as much as possible and we took lots of trips to national
parks. Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon and Zion
National Park have been some of our favorites. These were all great locations
that offered lots of opportunities to work on composition, exposure and overall
photographic technique. You can see many of these pictures in my online gallery.
Over the years I have built up a fair sized stock photo library of good landscape
photography and scenic photography. I have also developed a knack for taking
fireworks photos. Fireworks photography can be tricky, but very rewarding. In
recent years my focus has turned from scenic photography to stock photography.
My stock images are mainly a niche of backyard wildlife combined with small scale
props. The main subject of most of my stock photos are squirrels, but I get the
occasional chickadee and nuthatch too. Cute, furry, friendly squirrel photos are
rapidly accumulating in my stock library. I have squirrels eating out of a mailbox,
a shopping cart and tiny flower pots just to list a few. Lately I have added some
holiday items to my list of props (Easter bunny, witch, Santa.) I have these in mind
for Christmas cards, Easter cards and other holiday greeting cards. The links above
